AM SITTING ON my hospital bed on Monday night 11:05 PM (20th Aug, 2007).
My buttocks are in such a sore when I sit too long. But I better get this done before my sleeping pill kicks in.
(Taken by Mr Wan, a kind Samaritan)
SO, MORE THAN a week ago, I met with an accident on MRR2, 15 mins out of my house on my way to Putra Jaya to support Jac in ASEAN Ikon. I fell from my bike when my front wheel's brakes were applied stronger than the back, so I lost balance and fell about a stone's throw away. The bike ended up on my right thigh. I did not hit the car in front and neither was I hit by the car behind me.
The good Samaritan came out of his car (Mr Wan) and directed traffic and then lifted the heavy bike off me. I then scooped myself off to the middle of the highway by dragging my left hip. I soon realised that something was wrong with my right leg as it was completely numb and sore. I couldn't move it. I suspected something was broken.
Mr Wan described having seen sparks fly during my bike's dragging along the road. The roads were semi-wet from an earlier rain. Earlier in the day, I was with a bus of charming children from Kg. Gagu, Negri Sembilan. We had a workshop at KL PAC and later watched the matinee of Tunku - The Musical. I went home in the rain to prepare for Putra Jaya, spicing up the banner I created for Jac with sequins and all. In fact, all along the ride from my house to Putra Jaya, I was lifting up Jac in prayer with the live version of Gemilang playing on my Ipod Nano.
Back to the middle of the highway. I made sure Mr Wan got my sister's and best friend's numbers.... in case I faint, I told him. The police were called but I never saw them! I was calling many people but no one answered! I was calm and collected, no fear enveloped me.... in the end, I was conscious right till my major operation 12 hours later. I realised I lost much blood coz a day later, I had to have 2 bags of blood for transfusion. Before 9 pm, St John's Ambulance had arrived from HUKM and I was taken to Gleneagles Intan Hospital, my choice (due to Hospital card policies).
To date, I have had the major operation that lasted about 5 hrs - a broken femur bone with a permanent titanium nail inserted into my thigh bone. They operated on my hip area for the nail entrance but discovered that my femur bone was narrow. So they opened up another 7 inches lower to squeeze the nail in.
In case you guys wonder how I shall dance in the future, no worries... you know me, God is Awesome, He will show me new ways to dance! Doctors will always be optimistic for the healing health of the patient but I will be accepting of future 'down' times.
I was lying in the middle of that highway and no fear entered me. God has given me so many gifts... especially of friends and loved ones, not counting the immense talents and graces He shower down. I was lying there with this gentle smile on my face... deep in my heart, I knew and still know that everything is gonna be alright.
Thanks for all the prayers and kindest wishes.... I wish you LOVE.

I had no idea about your accident, and, if not for the sms which you just sent me, I would still be totally unaware of it! Thank God you are comparatively well and safe.
You're right - the broken femur will mend and you will definitely dance again! After all, I should know as I am already bionic with implants in my right ankle after a fall off a stage nearly 20 years ago!!
I am writing this in my hotel room in NYC as I am attending the Fringe Festival. I will definitely visit you when I get back to KL.
In the meantime, bro, rest, recuperate and renew your spirit. God loves you and so do we!
Till I see you in mid September -
Sandra

Ey bro!
you better take care of yourself
ya hear me???
you take in too much work
you hardly sleep
you hardly eat
i mean you don't eat on time
. . .that may cause imbalance of some sort
you have to be 100% alert when driving the bike
you have no strong defense against other vehicles when you're on the road
Great Dancers such as YOU must take all necessary precautions to protect your body!!!
i may sound like i'm scolding you
. . .because I AM!
last time i remember, we didn't communicate for so long only to find out that you were hospitalized. . .because of poor nutrition?
Ey Friend!
Take care of yourself hokidoki?
i'm SeRious!
EAT well
SLEEP well
be WELL!
you're in my prayers
chini-la
Wishing you a complete recovery and happy dancing!
Best wishes from c-c-cold London
